About

Somersault Ventures is a venture capital firm investing in next-generation Software and Marketplaces at the Seed and Series A stages. We seek businesses with the potential to become enduring category leaders or even monopolies, often within niche or overlooked verticals and functions.

We’re a remote-first team based out of Dubai, London, and San Francisco, and investing across North America and Europe. Our backgrounds span product, finance, and operations, and we take pride in being thoughtful, hands-on partners to founders in their early inflection points.

Our first institutional vehicle, Somersault Ventures Fund I, is backed by dozens of global tech entrepreneurs and executives. We have a particular affinity for founding teams where at least one founder is connected to UC Berkeley or comes from a CEE immigrant background - communities we understand deeply and where we see consistent entrepreneurial talent.

In his individual capacity, Alex has done a number of angel investments and managed syndicates investing in later-stage companies, where he acted as a board member and a corporate development advisor. Over the years, he gained expertise in such areas as vertical and enterprise AI software, two-sided marketplaces, EdTech, and consumer apps, among others.

In his free time, Alex is an avid tennis player, snowboarder, and frequent visitor to rock concerts and festivals. Alex received his MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematical Economics.

Alex Nevinsky
General Partner
London

Alex is a co-founder of Somersault Ventures. Over his 15+ years in VC, Alex has gone from investing in hard science of fuel cell and biotech that makes everything greener to software that brings tailored automation to most overlooked and backward industries and all things B2C, from PropTech to FinTech to EdTech and more.

Most of Alex's journey happened as a partner at I2BF Global Ventures, but along the way, he has also managed to co-found the #1 independent alternative lender in Eastern Europe (acquired by the #1 in all of Europe) and make a name for himself as an angel investor.

When not pondering what churn needs to be for valuations to make sense, Alex could be found teaching his 4-year-old daughter where to find unicorns in London. Alex holds an MSc in Finance and Risk from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Biophysics and puts both to good use.
